Junior Bike Skills Program
Give your kids the skills and confidence to ride safely — and have a blast doing it! BMA River 2 Reef Ride has partnered with “Wheelie Safe Kids” to deliver a hands-on, interactive Bike Safety Program designed to teach young riders how to be safe, confident and road-ready.
Where: Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre (Crowleys Road entrance)
When: Friday 5 September (Student Free Day)
🕒 Session 1: 9:30am (5–7 year olds)
🕒 Session 2: 11:30am (8–10 year olds)
What: A Bike Safety Program delivered by “Wheelie Safe Kids” founder Pete Murray. The program has a focus on kids developing the necessary skills to be confident and safe riders on shared pathways and roads, in particular:
✅ Learn the road rules and safety signs
✅ Get helmets fitted correctly
✅ Discover how to keep bikes in top shape
✅ Practice riding skills like starting, stopping, slow riding, zig-zags, hand signals and more
Not only will kids gain valuable bike and road safety knowledge, they will also get moving, build confidence, and discover how riding can be a fun, eco-friendly way to get around.
These new found skills will be a great addition to those riding in the Golding Kids Colour Ride on Saturday 6 September. All profits from the program will be distributed to BMA CQ Rescue and Disabled Sport & Rec Mackay.
Spots are limited — so don’t miss your chance to book!
